Profile
Groves Academy is the Midwest’s leading school for students with learning disabilities such as dyslexia, attention disorders like ADHD, and other executive functioning challenges. The one-of-a-kind school has been transforming the lives of students and families since 1972, offering similar programming for students who do not attend Groves Academy through Groves Learning Center. The center helps families in the greater community with services including diagnostic evaluations, tutoring, speech-language therapy, and summer programs.
In 2016, Groves Literacy Partnerships launched with the goal of building relationships with schools and teachers throughout Minnesota to share its teaching methods and ensure that all children can learn to read. What started as a small school 50 years ago has grown to serve more than 9,000 students last year through Groves Academy, Groves Learning Center, and Groves Literacy Partnerships.
Groves aims to strengthen students’ literacy and academic skills, improve self-esteem, and increase independence, self-reliance, and self-regulation. Both curriculum and instruction are evidence-based, focusing on understanding each student’s potential, abilities, and needs. From expert teachers and small class sizes to specialized, evidence-based curriculum and intentional relationship development, Groves’ students experience positive, lasting change.
