At the Rock Island Swing Bridge, take in 360-degree views more than 600 feet out over the Mississippi River. Fall colors make this already beautiful spot even more spectacular. After 6 p.m. in the fall, stick around for a light show every 15 minutes!
For another stunning view, visit Pine Bend Scientific and Natural Area. A fully paved path leads about a quarter-mile from the parking lot to a gorgeous overlook of the Mississippi River valley.

Oktoberfest in Inver Grove Heights
Fall wouldn’t be complete without Oktoberfest! Mississippi Pub and Inver Grove Brewing bring German-inspired celebrations to town each year.
Mississippi Pub | October 3, 4–11 p.m.
Celebrate the 11th Annual Oktoberfest with German food, beer and beverages, games, live polka music, stein hoisting, and best-dressed contests for men, women, and kids. It’s all ages and has no cover charge or entrance fee.
Inver Grove Brewing | October 10, 5–9 p.m.
