There’s no end to wintry fun in Twin Cities Gateway! From skijoring and sleigh rides to snowshoeing and ice castles and indoor fun, you’ll find just about every winter activity imaginable.
Explore Incredible Ice Castles
Don’t miss Ice Castles, an awe-inspiring, must-see winter phenomenon coming to Long Lake Regional Park in New Brighton in January. The Ice Palace experience is built entirely by hand using hundreds of thousands of icicles hand-placed by professional ice artists. The castles include breathtaking LED-lit sculptures, frozen thrones, ice-carved tunnels, slides, and fountains.
Enjoy a Sleigh Ride
Experience winter trails in a new way! Sleigh rides are available at Bunker Park Stable. With a variety of sleighs to suit any group or occasion, take a ride on the 2-4-person Antique Sleigh, a 14-person Red Bench Seat Sleigh, and two 25-person Flatbed Sleighs.

Try Fat Biking
Take your love of biking to the snowy season at the fat tire biking trails at Rice Creek Chain of Lakes Park Reserve in Lino Lakes. The 3.2 kilometers of trails include plenty of space for biking and cross-country skiing!
Grab you pup and go Skijoring
Head to Bunker Hills Regional Park, where you can go skiing or snowshoeing or combine winter sports and spending time with your furry best friend. Bunker Hills Regional Park is home to 12 miles of skijoring trails to enjoy the sport that combines cross-country skiing and dog sledding with your pup!
Cozy Indoor Fun
When the weather outside truly is frightful, there’s always plenty of indoor fun to be had in the Gateway. Go for a swim at Tropics Indoor Waterpark, defy gravity at Zero Gravity Trampoline Park, or take a spin on the Sky Rider indoor coaster at Urban Air Adventure.
Hot Spots on Cold Nights
No need to shiver at home. Winter is a great time to visit the communities of the Twin Cities Gateway, located just minutes away from downtown Minneapolis or St. Paul. When temperatures drop, moods soar at these hotspots. Take your pick among local favorites like Crooner’s Supper Club, Max Bar and Grill, and Serum’s Good Time Emporium, and the foot-tapping tunes will warm you right up. Or, take in a live performance at the Lyric Arts Main Street Stage in Historic Downtown Anoka.
