Stone Arch Bridge Festival

A party that’s as beloved as the bridge itself

Every June, one of Minneapolis’ poster children takes center stage for a weekend of art, live music, and family-friendly activities on the banks of the Mississippi River. I’m of course talking about the Stone Arch Bridge Festival.

Taking place over Father’s Day weekend (Friday, June 15, through Sunday, June 17), the Stone Arch Bridge Festival brings together more than 200 of the most talented artists from around the area to showcase their work in a creative display that gives further proof as to why the Twin Cities are such a hotbed for the arts.

In addition to all of this off-stage creativity are three stages of live music set up at Water Power Park, Father Hennepin Park, and Central Avenue Bridge. Guests can enjoy music all weekend long, including the free kick-off concert on Friday night, and another free show on Saturday (both at Water Tower Park) as they stroll through the festival grounds.

And the fun doesn’t stop there. A staple of the Stone Arch Bridge Festival, the Art of the Car Show, will drive up and put it in park, giving car collectors a chance to show off some of the hottest wheels from their collections. Expect to see vintage classics all the way up to show ponies of the road today.

Hold on, because we’re still not done.

It wouldn’t be a festival without food and brew, am I right? Vendors including Jake’s Street Grille, Black Forest, Pimento Jamaican Kitchen, and Home Town Creamery, and they will be whipping up their culinary creations all over Water Tower Park, Father Hennepin Park, Main Street, and Central Avenue Bridge to sate your hunger. And of course you’re going to need something to wash down all of these edibles. Fortunately, the Stone Arch Beer Sampler is here to rescue your thirst. From 2 to 5 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday, visitors to this ticketed event will be able to sample the suds from craft breweries including Badger Hill Brewing Company, Excelsior Brewing Company, Stone Brewing, and more.

OK, now we’re done.
