The crown-jewel of midwestern commerce is celebrating its 34th birthday on Tuesday. Party-goers can try new flavors of Mountain Dew while getting a picture taken with Spongebob or enjoying the musical stylings of DJ Matty Matt.

Modest Mouse comes to the Palace Theater Tuesday on the heels of their newest album, “An Eraser and a Maze,” which released earlier this summer. The band is also sporting a new guitarist in Seth Jabour, replacing guitarist Simon O’Connor, who left the tour after being accused of sending a sexually explicit image to a minor.

Meals on Wheels

What: Anoka Food Truck Festival
When: Aug. 15, 11 a.m.-9 p.m.
Where: Downtown Anoka

Downtown Anoka will be stuffed with food, beer, and free live music all day long on Saturday for the Anoka Food Truck Festival. Dogs are welcome at this outdoor festival, and each free wristband at the festival provides three free meals for those in need through Feed My Starving Children.
