Where: First Avenue, Minneapolis and the Fitzgerald Theater, St. Paul
They Might Be Giants might as well take up a residency in Minnesota as they are playing four shows across four nights in the Twin Cities this week. Their website describes their current tour as containing “pointless swearing,” so don’t expect the Mickey Mouse Clubhouse theme—which, if you didn’t know, they wrote! Tickets are sold out for three of their four shows, but you can find tickets for Thursday’s show here.

Legendary Minnesota writer F. Scott Fitzgerald’s 130th birthday was Sept. 24, so wish the late author a belated birthday at the Theatre in the Round production of The Great Gatsby this week. Shows are at 7:30 p.m. on Friday or Saturday, and your last chance to see it is 2 p.m. Sunday. Find tickets here.

Bright Eyes comes to Minnesota this weekend, bringing their socially conscious indie rock to First Avenue. If anyone points a tree branch at you like a gun, be careful, because they’ll shoot you dead. Find tickets here.

Jump up and shout, now!
What: Minnesota Wild Home Opener
When: Oct. 3, 7 p.m.
Where: Grand Casino Arena, St. Paul
While the Wild have yet to trade for a top six center or re-sign Quinn Hughes, there is still much to be excited about this season. With arguably the best goaltending and defense in the league, plus the offensive talents of Bonafide stars at forward in Kirill Kaprizov and Matt Boldy, don’t write off those boys in St. Paul. The Wild’s first game is on Oct. 1 in Nashville before taking on the Boston Bruins at home on Saturday. Find tickets here.
