Are you a local food enthusiast? Are you eager to help improve our local food system? If yes, there’s a new opportunity for you to get involved. The City of Minneapolis is looking for volunteers for the Homegrown Minneapolis Food Council for 2014-2016.
“The Food Council implements projects designed to strengthen the food system and advises the Minneapolis City Council and Mayor on food related issues,” explained Vishwarupa [Vish] Vasani, prevention specialist for policy & community programs at the Minneapolis Health Department.
Two upcoming information sessions have been scheduled for potential applicants:
· Thursday, September 26th at 7 p.m.: St Olaf Community Campus, 2901 Emerson Ave. N., Minneapolis
· Wednesday, October 2nd at 7 p.m.: East Phillips Cultural and Community Center, 2307 16th Ave. S., Minneapolis
Current Food Council members will be present to answer questions and help fill out application forms, and Spanish interpreters will be available.
