Since opening its doors in Eagan in 2022, Kitchen and Rail has become known for its bold flavors, community-first spirit, and irreverent energy. It quickly carved out a spot among the metro’s dining destinations, consistently drawing a loyal following for both its menu and atmosphere.

Now, the restaurant is set to bring that same energy to the west metro, taking over the beloved former Mort’s Deli space in the Golden Valley Shopping Center. Doors are expected to open in early 2026, giving fans one more place to enjoy Kitchen and Rail favorites such as the Famous Filet Mignon Sandwich, Nana’s Meatballs, and its proprietary wine label, Victorio’s, alongside the full craft cocktail program.
The expansion carries a layer of nostalgia, too. Mort’s was a long-standing gathering spot for the Golden Valley community, and Kitchen and Rail is honoring that history with a special fall menu item at its Eagan location: The MORT—a half-pound New York–style pastrami sandwich stacked high on caraway rye with mustard, house pickles, and kettle chips.

Founder Victor Salamone sees the move as both a milestone and a homecoming. “From the start, our goal was to create a restaurant that felt like home, where indulgent food and drinks could bring people together,” he says. “Golden Valley has a strong sense of community, and we’re honored to be part of its next chapter, especially in such an iconic spot.”
The timing also coincides with the revitalization of the Golden Valley Shopping Center by Paster Properties, which is reimagining the historic retail hub for its next era. With Kitchen and Rail joining the mix, Golden Valley is set to gain a fresh destination that balances old neighborhood roots with new culinary energy.
Stay tuned—come 2026, your next night out might just start with a glass of Victorio’s and end with a Famous Filet Mignon Sandwich, this time in Golden Valley.
