Ann Kim and her husband Conrad Leifur run red-hot pizza joints Pizzeria Lola and Hello Pizza, on the Minneapolis/Edina border. While they’ve received much success locally and nationally (Lola was featured on Guy Fieri’s Diners, Drive-ins & Dive), they felt like it was time for something new. Their latest project, Young Joni in Northeast (adjacent to Dangerous Man Brewing) features a huge space and a “secret” speakeasy in back. The menu pairs pizza with Korean-style meats and small plates, showcasing Kim’s culinary repertoire beyond her very delicious pizzas. Get a special look at how the restaurant came to be, and the hurdles Kim and Leifur faced, in December’s Minnesota Monthly‘s cover story.
