Earl-A-Whirl Returns: Art, Music, and a Little Edge in Northeast

A weekend-long celebration at Earl Giles blends Art-A-Whirl energy with makers, music, and Minnesota’s evolving THC scene

There’s a certain rhythm to Northeast Minneapolis in May—streets buzzing, doors open, and creativity spilling into every corner. As Art-A-Whirl takes over the neighborhood, Earl Giles once again leans into the moment with the return of Earl-A-Whirl Market & Bizarre and Earl-A-Weed (1325 Quincy St. NE, Minneapolis), a three-day event that captures the intersection of art, culture, and community in one place.

It starts Friday night with Earl-A-Weed, a high-energy kickoff that reflects a growing shift in Minnesota’s social scene. More than 40 THC vendors will line the space, offering samples (for guests 21+) alongside a menu of infused and non-infused beverages—from margaritas to lavender spritzes. The night builds toward a free outdoor performance by Dessa, bringing a distinctly local voice to a crowd that feels equally rooted in music, curiosity, and connection.

By Saturday and Sunday, the focus shifts to makers. In partnership with Juniper Lou Vintage & Makers Market, more than 90 local vendors will fill the lot with handmade goods—everything from vintage finds to crafted pieces that reflect the depth of Minnesota’s creative community. It’s less about browsing and more about discovery, the kind of market where you linger a little longer than planned.

Throughout the weekend, Earl Giles anchors the experience with what it does best: food, drinks, and atmosphere. Expect porchetta sandwiches, smoked wings, garlic nubs, zeppoles, and pizza, alongside a rotating lineup of DJs that keeps the energy moving from afternoon into night.
