Publisher's Note: The Road Ahead

While change can be unsettling, rest assured—Minnesota Monthly isn’t going anywhere anytime soon.

The Greek philosopher Heraclitus once quipped that change is the only constant in the world. That sentiment is as true now as it was more than 2,500 years ago, and perhaps even more so in the world of magazines. Technology advances, reading habits change, and we who make the magazines you love strive to bring you the best content experience possible in the midst of this ever-shifting landscape.

New Year, New Approach

It is in that sense of change that Minnesota Monthly has moved to six issues a year beginning in 2019. In our 51-year history, Minnesota Monthly has prided itself on its ability to evolve, and this Jan/Feb issue now in your hands is proof of our resilience as we change to better fit your needs for the next half-century.

In the issues ahead you’ll see more pages devoted to the kinds of stories you love, delivered to you as only Minnesota Monthly can. We will continue to celebrate all that the great state of Minnesota has to offer, and we’ll bring you even more of the people, places, industries, arts, entertainment, food, and culture that you’ve come to expect from us.

More Online Content in 2019

In addition to vibrant changes to our magazine sections evidenced in this issue, our path forward includes double the amount of online editorial content at MNMO.com, e-newsletters, and social media channels. We have hungry audiences following each of these streams of content, not to mention our signature events, including the upcoming 25th annual Food & Wine Experience—and these changes better position us to serve them all.

In today’s fast-paced business climate, change is still the only constant. Like other thriving companies, we will continue to innovate to engage our audience and valued partners. And while change can be unsettling, rest assured—Minnesota Monthly isn’t going anywhere anytime soon. Are we changing our physical footprint of paper-based content in the market? Yes, we are. Are we thrilled for the road ahead? Yes, we are.
