Whether you’re an avid pickleball enthusiast or hoping to dip your toes into the popular pastime, you should keep your eye on a major development coming to Apple Valley: Picklehall.
The Apple Valley City Council cast their final votes last week to approve construction of the brand-new facility, which will feature 18 indoor pickleball courts, 80 self-serve beer taps, 300 outdoor patio seats, fire pits, outdoor games, and a food hall. The complex will include two stories, encompassing 56,000 square feet of space.

According to a Facebook post by Apple Valley Chamber of Commerce, construction of the facility is set to begin right away, with an expected opening in mid-2026. The complex will be located the currently vacant lots between GrandStay Hotel and the Apple Valley Post Office, at the the northeast corner of 153rd Street and Garrett Avenue.
The Chamber of Commerce also noted that Picklehall owner Randy Motilall, a developer with Inver Grove Heights-based Markid Properties Inc., grew up in the area and is “very excited to bring jobs, sports, and entertainment to the citizens of Apple Valley,” according to the Facebook post.
“This is going to be a standalone in Apple Valley. There are other similar facilities around the Twin Cities, mainly north side—Maple Grove, Minneapolis, in those areas—but there’s nothing on the south side at the moment,” Motilall said at a planning commission meeting on July 2, according to reporting by Finance & Commerce.
