Minnesota Dance Theatre’s The Enchantment was supposed to premiere to a live audience last spring. Of course, a behind-the-scenes look at what was meant to be is now getting a virtual showing. It’s free and presented by the Cowles Center, offering a close look at how large production comes to be—in this case: The Enchantment, a dance exploration of dark and fantastical fairytales.

For over a decade, the Danger Committee has eliminated boredom with exciting, comedic, and daring visual acts, from knife throwing to juggling and more. Following strict safety protocols and with limited attendance, the Lab Theater is hosting a sensational comeback this weekend, with a socially distant live audience.

Outdoor Zumba

What: Outdoor Zumba with Sadie
When: Saturday April 17, 10-11 a.m.
Where: Armatage Park, Minneapolis

No need to pre-register for this outdoor, socially distanced Zumba class. It’s pay what you can, and there’s free parking for all. Class will be switched to Zoom if it rains—follow the Facebook event for updates.

Make-Your-Own Tamales

What: What’s for Dinner?: A Homestyle Cooking Class Series with Amalia
When: Saturday April 17, 11 a.m.-1 p.m.
Where: Virtual, via Zoom

During this two-hour tamale-making party, you’ll learn cooking shortcuts, build up a tamale pantry, and expand on your culinary repertoire. Zoom link, recipes, and special instructions will be sent to registrants two days prior to prepare for the class.

Black Fortitude in Textiles

What: Racism: In the Face of Hate, We Resist

In late March, the Textile Center opened a showcase of 63 quilts that tell stories of resistance and resilience critical to Black survival in America. Viewers can schedule a time to visit the Textile Center here.
