Editor’s Picks: Summer in Stripes

Retro, nautical, and effortlessly chic, stripes will be everywhere this summer—here are our Style Editor’s top picks for the timeless pattern

If it wasn’t already obvious that stripes are the “it” print this summer, then it became so when pop starlet Sabrina Carpenter strutted down the Vogue World runway last week in a head-to-toe, red-striped swimwear ensemble by Jacquemus. Retro, nautical, and effortlessly chic, the Brigitte Bardot-inspired number set the tone for how to style stripes this summer.

While a classic print that never quite goes out of style, stripes have been particularly prevalent in the realms of fashion and interior design this year, recently named Vogue’s “2024 Interior Design Trend to Know.” Evocative of sailboat sojourns and seaside resort lounging, the timeless print is an alluring summer aesthetic, especially when rendered in the season’s hot colors, including cherry red, butter yellow, and sky blue. Baring a seamless versatility that is rare when it comes to patterns, stripes will easily mix and match with other trends of the summer, from crochet and knitted garments to lightweight linens to rattan and raffia textures.

Below, we’ve rounded up a few of our favorite striped items for the season, all of which you can shop right here in the Twin Cities. Don’t be afraid to mix and match your stripes—mixed prints have been dominating runways in 2024
