Does Daniel del Prado own all the restaurants in town yet? He has North Loop darling Porzana, Colita in South Minneapolis, Martina in Linden Hills, and two outposts of Rosalia. Now, he has announced two locations at 50th & France: one coming this fall, and the newest announcement coming next year to the soon-to-be-former Barrio space.

First: Ryan Burnet’s Barrio will close Oct. 1 after fifteen years. As Burnet owns the building, he had a choice to make. “We love this neighborhood, but it’s time to make some changes,” he said in a statement. “And after 15 years, we want to work with the city of Edina instead of just shutting down. We’ve seen what’s happened to other communities, and here we’re doubling down instead of packing up.”
Burnet and del Prado are already the team behind Porzana and Flora Room, as well as Minari in Northeast Minneapolis. So they’re going to open a new restaurant, Americana, complete with a glassed-in all-season rooftop patio. The renderings from Christian Dean Architecture are stunning.

Del Prado’s DDP Restaurant Group already runs Dexter’s in the neighborhood, and they have announced plans to open a restaurant in the space that used to be The Lynhall this fall. And there’s a smaller third project that will be announced later this year.
“We truly believe in the potential for this area to be a food destination for the Twin Cities,” del Prado said in a statement. “Americana will be a great gathering space, elevated but approachable with lots of our signature greenery and, of course, the rooftop will be amazing.”
Barrio in downtown Minneapolis will remain open and accept all outstanding gift cards. Americana is slated to open in late 2026.
The heat is on outside of the core cities right now. We have seen massive openings in Excelsior and so many fresh concepts in the sorta-suburban 50th & France: Mr. Paul’s Supper Club and Mothership Pizza Paradise, Gavin Kaysen’s rebooted Bellecour coming this fall, and maybe another new concept if Salut decides to not renew its lease later this year.
