Heyday Opens Tuesday

Lorin Zinter’s online feed reads just one word today, “Tuesday.”  For him and chef partner Jim Christiansen, Tuesday has been a long time coming. After more than two decades of work between them, working at and running others’ restaurants, tomorrow they get to open their own.

Heyday ran a practice dinner this weekend, cooking through the menu and drinks, and giving servers and staff a chance to fine tune their systems.

The menu promises to change based on availability, but if you run this week, you might catch dishes like Wood-Charred Mackerel, grilled hard and awesomely bitter with generous slices of fresh avocado, or seared and crispy Lamb-belly with sweet snap peas.

Do not miss dessert. Piled high in bowls, stylish, challenging, and tasty, some melt and tingle on your palate in ways you didn’t know desserts could melt and tingle and leave you questioning, “How did they make that, and how did they make it taste so good”? Try Frozen Licorice, or Toasted Maple Merengue, for a couple of the many insanely good treats on the menu.

The décor matches the service—light-hearted, fun, and rustic, but also, sophisticated and polished.  Zinter’s presence is felt throughout, with humor and style, like the beer bottle light fixtures in the bathroom, and anthemic pop tunes beating through the sound system.

Diners should be excited for Tuesday, the owners certainly are.
