It’s Fish Fry Season 2025!

Local restaurants are dishing up special fish meals in honor of the Lenten tradition of abstaining from eating meat on Fridays until Easter (which is on April 20 this year). But you don’t have to practice this Catholic tradition to enjoy the delicious meals and deals that run from March 5 (which is Ash Wednesday when Lent begins) or Friday, March 7 through April 17 or 18. Here is a roundup of some deals to check out, and look for possible updates as more are announced.

328 Grill

Located inside American Legion Post 98, 328 Broadway Ave., St. Paul Park
What: All-you-can-eat buffet, including both beer battered and fried cod, Parmesan potatoes, mac ‘n’ cheese, green beans, coleslaw, and pudding; $20

In addition to the seasonal fish fry specials (below), Smack Shack is bringing Mardi Gras vibes with some Cajun specials March 3 and 4: Deep-fried okra and pickles with Old Bay remoulade; a Shrimp Etouffee and grits made with jumbo shrimp, Cajun etouffee, and cheesy grits; or the Bourbon Street Lobster Roll made with warm Maine lobster, Old Bay butter, muffuletta olive salad, and served with Cajun fries.

What: The Panfish Basket features shore lunch-crusted perch and sunfish, served with steak fries, malt vinegar coleslaw, house tartar sauce, and lemon for $19. The Sunfish Sammy comes on a toasted hoagie with spicy remoulade, American cheese, coleslaw, and steak fries tossed in malt vinegar and smoked Maldon salt for $15. Pair your meal with Saint Paul Brewing craft beer, Hamm’s beer, or your choice of wine or cocktail. Nonalcoholic beverages are also available.
