On Friday, Nov. 21, the Market welcomes its newest restaurant, Rollin Nolen’s BBQ, with a grand opening celebration from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Expect good food, great music, and the signature southern hospitality that chef TJ Nolen has been serving up since 2016.
What began as a family’s “tail-gating style” barbecue operation—firing up a massive smoker hitched to an open trailer—has grown into one of Minnesota’s most beloved, flavor-packed food businesses. The Nolens, a small family-owned team with generations of cooking roots, have expanded from that original roadside setup to fully equipped food trucks, ever-evolving menus, and now, their first brick-and-mortar location inside Midtown Global Market. Their mission has always been simple: serve up some of the best food in Minnesota, especially BBQ, and make sure every bite is unforgettable.

At the new restaurant, guests will find the signature Rollin Nolen’s flavors—created from scratch with house-made rubs, seasonings, and sauces—on favorites like beef brisket, seasoned pulled pork, ribs, burgers, wings, and loaded fries. Vegan options also shine, with plant-based burgers, cauliflower bites, and baked beans rounding out a menu built for every appetite.
The Grand Opening celebration features live blues from DJ Hendrix, a selfie station with BBQ-themed props, and giveaways throughout the day. It’s a chance to meet the team, taste the dishes that built their loyal following, and experience the soulful hospitality the Nolens pride themselves on.
