Wrecktangle Pizza Has a New Concept Coming to St. Paul

Wrestaurant at the Palace to open in former Wild Tymes Sports Bar in downtown

Wrecktangle Pizza is having a moment. Huge success at the North Loop Galley food hall led to more success at the Market at Malcolm Yards, which led to a standalone restaurant at Lyndale & Lake, which led to an appearance on “Good Morning, America,” which led to winning a contest featuring pizza places all around the country.

Wrecktangle Pizza is coming to St. Paul. They’re opening Wrestaurant at the Palace in the former Wild Thymes Sports Bar, right next to the Palace Theatre. The Palace and the restaurant buildings are owned by the city of St. Paul, and operated by First Avenue.

“We are very jazzed for this new partnership,” said Jeff Rogers and Breanna Evans of Wrecktangle and Wrestaurant, in a statement shared with me. “Food and beverage expect to be familiar and fun, just like us! This isn’t Wrecktangle Pizza, but there will be Wrecktangle Pizzas.”

The new concept will be open daily, and there will be a patio on the pedestrian mall on West Seventh Street next to the Palace Theatre. Wrecktangle is known for a foccacia-style crust—a sort of Detroit-style pizza—and great, bold toppings. Wrecktangle pizzas will be part of the lineup, but the menu will include new dishes, a full cocktail menu, and more. They’ll have a window too to pick up a slice or some other grab-and-go items after a show. The restaurant will be full-service with a huge bar, 40 seats. It should be fun!
