Minnesota-Made Prairie Organic Vodka Named Best in America

Princeton-based Prairie Organic Vodka earns top honors from Newsweek, highlighting Minnesota’s leadership in sustainable, ingredient-driven spirits

A Minnesota spirit is topping the national stage. Prairie Organic Vodka, produced by Phillips Distilling Co., has been named Best Vodka in America in the 2026 Readers’ Choice Awards from Newsweek.

Crafted in Princeton using organic, non-GMO corn sourced from Midwestern family farms, Prairie has long positioned itself as a leader in ingredient transparency and sustainability. That approach is resonating more than ever, as consumers increasingly look for spirits that prioritize both quality and responsible sourcing.

“As consumers become more intentional about what they’re drinking, transparency and ingredient integrity matter more than ever,” says Laura Donnelly, Vice President of Marketing at Phillips Distilling Co. “This recognition reflects our commitment to working with organic family farms across the Midwest and producing a vodka that delivers on both quality and taste. We’ve always believed great ingredients should come through in the glass.”

Rather than aiming for total neutrality, Prairie leans into its ingredients—resulting in a vodka known for its soft sweetness, creamy texture, and versatility in cocktails. The brand also continues to invest in sustainability efforts, including partnerships with local farmers and initiatives like its Bee Better program, which supports pollinator health across the region.

For a homegrown label to rise above a global field of competitors is no small feat—and another reminder that some of the best things to sip this summer are made right here in Minnesota.
