Known for its historic North Loop charm and rooftop pool, Minneapolis’ Hewing Hotel is celebrating its 10th anniversary this year with a bit of a new look (and new flavors, too).

The hotel’s recent renovation included updates to the lobby, with new seating to accommodate gathering and co-working; a new layout for the bar and lounge; and refreshed guest rooms with a warmer color scheme and new furnishings. “As we near our 10th anniversary, it felt like the perfect moment to invest in the next chapter of Hewing,” said general manager Catherine Hall in a recent release. “Our goal was to ensure the hotel feels renewed and elevated, while still maintaining the authenticity and familiarity our guests love.”

The Hewing’s building dates back to 1897, and the hotel—open since 2016—has leaned on the industrial-chic vibes and the historic setting. The renovation maintains the Hewing’s popular rooftop lounge, Nordic sauna, and spa pool, which all offer views of one of the city’s most picturesque neighborhoods.

Onsite restaurant Tullibee has some new tricks up its sleeve, too. New executive chef Nathan Kim is launching a reimagined menu and bar program with a “lakes and woods” theme, focusing on open-hearth cooking and local ingredients. A few menu highlights include the Juicy Lucy tartare (whose connection to Minnesota needs no explanation), lamb meatballs, and Iberico pork ribs, all designed to be shareable so guests can try multiple dishes.

And on March 12 at 6 p.m., the Hewing will host a relaunch celebration to kick off its anniversary festivities. Visitors can see the updated community spaces and try the new food and beverage options.
