The battle has been ongoing since longtime owner Glen Taylor attempted to stop the sale of the Timberwolves and Lynx around this time last year, saying Rodriguez and Lore missed the deadline to complete the deal, according to Sports Illustrated (SI). The last-minute move from Taylor came years after the $1.55 billion sale was agreed upon in 2021.

In a statement provided to ESPN’s Shams Charania and others, Rodriguez and Lore said they “look forward to working with the NBA to complete the approval process and close this transaction so that we can turn our attention to winning championships in Minnesota for our incredible fans and the Twin Cities community.” Rodriguez and Lore have a 90-day timeframe to complete the payment and gain approval from the NBA Board of Governors.

According to SI, a statement from Taylor and his wife, Becky, says they will review the decision thoroughly prior to making any further comment. “We would like to express our sincere appreciation to Timberwolves and Lynx players, staff, and loyal fans for their support,” Taylor said in the statement.
