Mara is sold out at Four Seasons Hotel Minneapolis. Jax Cafe is sold out. So is Kendall’s in Coon Rapids. It’s tough out there for a husband or kid who’s looking to score reservations for Mother’s Day. But don’t worry—Minnesota Monthly has you covered. As of Friday, May 1, here are some restaurants that still have availability for Mother’s Day dining.
Animales BBQ: No reservations—but this place is huge! Moms receive a free mimosa carafe with brunch (11 a.m.-2 p.m.) with live music from kids’ entertainer Aric Bieganek, who will do a 45-minute program at beginning at 11:30 and 12:30. Moms can also enjoy a glass of wine on the house with dinner (4-9 p.m.).
Massage & mala bracelet-making event at Anda Spa: Try a 50-minute massage, a yoga class, a guided mala bracelet-making class, and mimosas ($230 plus fees). 9 a.m.- 1 p.m.
Butcher & The Boar: Hand-made sausages and house-cured bacon, fried chicken, biscuits and gravy, and a smoked prime rib and brisket carving station. $55 per person;
$45 for seniors (55+); $20 for kids ages 3-12; kids under 3 eat free.
Three Squares Maple Grove:Free mimosa or orange juice for moms. Reservations available.
Earl Giles: Free “mom-osa” for moms and food specials from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. for brunch; steak frites from 3 to 9 p.m.
Stock & Bond: Brunch buffet 10 a.m.-3 p.m. $70 per guest, $20 per child under 12. Buffet includes prime rib, chilled shrimp cocktail, pastries, made-to-order omelets, and brunch classics.
W.A. Frost: Parties of four still have availability after 2:15 p.m., but you can get in on the patio or inside. Brunch 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Adults $59.95; kids ages 4-12 $24.95; kids 3 and under eat free.
Stockyards Tavern & Chophouse: There’s room for the Mom’s Day Buffet in South St. Paul! Brunch 10 a.m.-2 p.m.; dinner 4-8 p.m.
Forepaugh’s: Brunch buffet starts at 11 a.m., with availability for groups of 4+ after 1 p.m. The elegant brunch is complete with classics, champagne, and an a la carte menu until 3 p.m.
Tria Restaurant:You can get in for the brunch buffet at 9:30 a.m. and at 1:30 p.m. in North Oaks.
Tavola at Elliot Park Hotel: Tavola in downtown Minneapolis has a lovely brunch with availability Sunday morning.
Risata Cucina: Robbinsdale’s Mother’s Day Italian brunch with reservations still available. 10 a.m.-3 p.m. $35 for adults; $16 for kids 12 and under.
The Drake at the Saint Paul Hotel: This breakfast spot in the Saint Paul Hotel doesn’t offer a buffet, but they have a traditional brunch menu with some specials, and there are reservations available.
Birch’s on the Lake, Long Lake: You have to go at 2:30 or 2:45 p.m., but you can get the Mother’s Day buffet in the supper club with a free mimosa or Bloody Mary for Mom. Adults are $95; kids ages 4-12 are $32; and kids 3 and under are free. In the brewhouse, there’s also a Bloody Mary bar, plus plenty for the kids to do, including video games, soft serve ice cream with toppings, and a candy station. Reservations are required.
Red Cow NORTH LOOP: For the buffet, adults are $65, kids 5-12 are $25, and kids 4 and under are free. Menu includes breakfast burritos, waffles, and avocado toast, plus a raw bar, three different salads, scrambled eggs, eggs Benedict, a carving station with New York strip, double barrel and 60/40 sliders, pastas, and plenty of sides and pastries. The other Red Cow locations will be offering their usual brunch menu 9 a.m.-3 p.m.
Red Rabbit: There’s currently limited availability in the North Loop, more room in St. Paul, but a great buffet. Oysters and shrimp, plus brunch favorites like avocado toast, Italian beef hash, acai bowls, French toast, scrambled eggs, eggs Benedict, chicken parmesan, a carving station with New York strip, and grilled salmon. Salads, pastas, and pizzas on the buffet, accompanied by a selection of sides, pastries, and desserts. Adults $65; kids 5-12 $25; kids 4 and under are free.
Smack Shack: North Loop and Bloomington still have room for a lobster-centric brunch from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Traditional lobster roll, a lobster boil, lobster Benedict, monkey bread, and more.
The St. Paul Grill: No brunch- but why not do a Mother’s Day dinner! Most places have availability after 2p, and The St. Paul Grill is no exception. Special Mother’s Day items alongside the regular menu, they recommend reservations. Get to Open Table via stpaulgrill.com.
