A brand-new dining and entertainment destination is coming to Shakopee in Spring 2025.
Boardwalk Kitchen & Bar, located just 25 feet from the Canterbury Park racetrack, will house two experiences under one roof—American eatery Boardwalk Kitchen & Bar and an entertainment venue informally called “The Stable,” offering live music, sports games, and more. Additionally, Boardwalk’s 18,000-square-foot patio will feature trackside dining, drinking, and games.
“Shakopee is the fastest growing city in Minnesota and we are thrilled to be a part of that growth,” says Boardwalk Kitchen & Bar owner Joe Berg in a statement. “It’s also home to Canterbury Park, so I’ve had my eye on the community for a while.”
At Boardwalk, guests will find classic American fare from an open-concept scratch kitchen, and original craft cocktails. The patio, located adjacent to the track, is sure to be a hit on race days, offering patrons an up-close view of the action. The outdoor space will feature communal seating, a second bar, fireplaces, lawn chairs, and lawn games in a family-friendly environment.
The dining-entertainment concept is something Berg has always wanted to create. “You can enjoy a casual dinner and drinks at the restaurant or party all night at The Stable,” he says. “Offering that to guests while they watch the races will be a truly one-of-a-kind experience.”
The venue’s design took inspiration from the racetrack and Shakopee’s Gingko-lined streets, blending timeless, rustic, and modern aesthetics. Built by Rowland Construction and designed by Doerr Architecture and Bisou Consulting, the space features warm wood accents, saddle-brown leather seating, a copper-topped central bar, custom wallpaper paying tribute to jockey uniforms, and a Gingko tree in the entryway.
While the official opening date has yet to be announced, you can follow Boardwalk on Instagram and Facebook for updates.
