Minnesota’s love for hockey finally gets a permanent home. The Minnesota Hockey Hall of Fame leadership team announced that it has selected Inver Grove Heights as the future home for its 120,000-plus-square-foot destination, slated to open in 2028. The interactive space will feature a state-of-the-art ice rink, expansive museum, performance hall, hockey-themed restaurant, and cutting-edge exhibits that let fans relive the sport’s greatest moments. As a true statewide initiative, the hall of fame will honor the athletes, coaches, and communities who shaped Minnesota’s hockey legacy—while inspiring the next generation.

In a press release, Inver Grove Heights Mayor Brenda Dietrich said, “The City is thrilled that the Minnesota Hockey Hall of Fame has selected Inver Grove Heights as its home, and we look forward to welcoming them to our community.”

The site of the future hall of fame complex is near the Viking Lakes development and the intersection of interstates 494 and 35E, and construction is expected to begin in the summer of 2026.
