Alchemy Blends Fitness with Local Makers

Since opening its first location in North Loop last March, fitness studio Alchemy has quickly built a cult following. That fervor has led the fledgling business to open a second facility across the river in at a renovated historic building in Northeast. Its members religiously don Alchemy-branded workout apparel. It’s also one of the few gyms in the Midwest to carry stylish workout wear from Cory Vines (a trendier take on Lululemon, at a much lower price-point), Lorna Jane (Australia’s answer to Lululemon), and Rhone Men’s, which easily go from the gym to the street.

Alchemy is also shaping up to be a retail destination in its own right. In addition to stocking cold-pressed juice by Minneapolis’s own Juice So Good and WholeMe Clusters’s delicious gluten-free snacks, the fitness studio has also launched a series of collaborations with local businesses. Current offerings include custom-designed fitness journals by Woodchuck USA and a limited-edition Gurley Tote made in collaboration with local brand Blue Claw Co., which is built from a heavy weight Martexin waxed canvas, accented with locally sourced leather from the SB Foot Tannery in Red Wing, MN, and comes with an inner pouch to store sweaty clothing. Upcoming product launches includes hand-knit leg- and arm-warmers from Wool & Whiskey; branded sweatshirts from Sota Clothing; and a custom scent available in a mist, an oil, and a lotion by Margo Roberts.

To incentivize you to visit Alchemy over the holidays and work off those carbs, receive a $25 retail card when you check in 15 times before December 31 to either location.

Alchemy, now open at 300 Second St. S.E., Minneapolis 612-444-6287, and at 246 9th Ave N, Minneapolis, 612-444-6287, alchemy365.com
