This month marks the second year our state has made May Minnesota Museum Month. With nearly 500 museums, 60 of which are in the Twin Cities, a month-long celebration is absolutely necessary!
You may not be able to visit them all, but May 16 will bring a display that is a must-see.

Located in what was once the world’s largest flourmill, built on the historic riverfront of the Mississippi, Mill City Museum’s central Mill Commons will host a raw and fascinating exhibit titled We Are Still Here: Photographs of the American Indian Movement. The included photographs were captured by Dick Bancroft, an activist and photographer of the time, and provide strikingly intimate views of the passionate, angry, and radical acts of the American Indian Movement from 1970-1981.
A public reception complete with refreshments and a presentation by Bancroft and journalist Laura Waterman Wittstock, who interviewed participants of the movement as an extension of their new book We Are Still Here: A History of the American Indian Movement in Photographs, will kick off the free and astonishing display that illustrates this work (through Sept. 1).
