In the true spirit of Minnesota, the Hewing Hotel is transforming its rooftop—known for downtown Minneapolis views and a warm pool and sauna—into a winter destination. The hotel’s new Polar Bar, literally carved from ice, debuted last week and will be open each Thursday-Saturday through spring.
“Guests can expect a true Minnesota, Nordic-inspired winter experience,” says Rebekah Poox Bennett, Hewing Hotel’s director of food and beverage. The Polar Bar features cold-weather bites, the hotel’s signature city views, and a rotation of specialty cocktails, themed each week by a different guest vendor. “Watch for upcoming weekends featuring Fireball, Buffalo Trace Bourbon Cream, Corazon, Siete Lenguas, and Myers Rum,” says Poox Bennett.
The Polar Bar is open to the public, in addition to hotel guests, from 4 p.m. to midnight each weekend—until the bar melts, says Poox Bennett. “And if you need a break from the cold, the indoor rooftop bar is open nightly for warming up.”
