Curbside Takeout: Shish Mediterranean in St. Paul

Jason’s verdict: perfect for a family meal (or if you’re just craving juicy chicken)

Shish

First, dine-in closed. Then, nearby Macalester College closed. A normal business owner would be in crisis, but Leo Judeh quickly introduced family-style platters in the restaurant and started making meals for St. Paul school kids, available through his Fare Well food truck.

The platters are delightful: $40 gets you a pound of gyro meat, another pound of saffron rice, and a family salad. The $35 chicken shawarma meal is made even more delicious—juicy, flavorful chicken—topped with an addictive curry tahini.

Leo’s hummus is the base for Chickpea, the hummus bowl spot at the new-ish Potluck food hall in Roseville Center, and it’s creamy perfection.
